NIGAWD 3rd Anniversary Program Report



The New Generation Girl and Women Development Initiative (NIGAWD) 3rd Anniversary Program Report

The 3rd anniversary program of NIGAWD was conducted on Friday 25th September and Monday 28th September 2015 at Government College Ado-Ekiti and Ado Grammar School respectively. The program gathered a total of 702 girls and 36 boys drawn from 5 secondary schools. They are:
v  Government College Ado-Ekiti
v  Ado Grammar School
v  Mary-Immaculate Secondary School
v  Olaoluwa Grammar School
v  Muslim Grammar School
The 1st phase of the program was held in Government College Ado-Ekiti on 25th September 2015 where the girls and boys were reached with adolescent reproductive health and life building skills.
Methodology: Film Show, Role play, Presentation, use of questionnaire and Question and Answer.
Total Reached: 114 girls and 36 boys
Materials distributed: 102 “Don’t Break that Gate” tract and 36 “Don’t Plug it tracts”
Topics covered:-
⦿      Relationship and relational skills (negotiation, refusal and assertiveness)
⦿      Self esteem and sexual behavior
⦿      Abstinence  and peer pressure/influence
⦿      Teenage pregnancy and it effect
⦿      HIV/AIDS and other STIs
⦿      Practical tips for Abstinence
⦿      Benefits of Abstinence
⦿      Adolescent sexuality on Education
⦿      Female Genital Mutilation
⦿      Fact on Abortion
Result Achieved: Increased knowledge of 150 in-school adolescents in Ekiti State on Adolescent reproductive health and life building skills.
Provided one to one confidential counseling to One (1) adolescent on abandonment of lesbianism practice/ behavior.

The 2nd phase of the program was held in Ado Grammar School, Ado-Ekiti on 28th September 2015 where only girls were reached with adolescent reproductive health and life building skills.
Methodology: Film Show, Role play, Presentation, use of questionnaire and Question and Answer.
Total Reached: Over 2,000 girls drawn from the 5 schools represented. (Olaoluwa, Muslim Grammar School, Mary Immaculate and Government College) 

           

Result Achieved: Increased knowledge of 150 in-school adolescents in Ekiti State on Adolescent reproductive health and life building skills.
Provided one to one confidential counseling to One (1) adolescent on abandonment of lesbianism practice/ behavior.
